I create non-functional raku pottery. I enjoy throwing, shaping, glazing and firing each pot individually. The process of firing the pottery outdoors with the flames and smoke, add to the excitement of the unexpected, and continue to keep me eager to fire the next pot. Firing a single pot for an hour allows me to react to all of the variables such as the glaze, firing temperature, length of firing time, and weather conditions. I am internally rewarded when the pot turns out to be a statement of beauty. I am even more rewarded when another person shares the same feeling.
